Jodi has been working with children for over 10 years. Originally from Rockville, Maryland, Jodi attended the University of Delaware, where she received her degree in Elementary Education. Immediately upon graduation, she was hired by Brandywine School District in Wilmington, Delaware. There she taught students with special needs in grades 4 and 5. After a year, she went into the general education classroom, where she taught 4th grade for 2 more years.
In 2003, Jodi moved to Fairfax, Virginia and worked at Fairhill Elementary School for 4 years. As a Fairfax County teacher, Jodi taught 5th grade for 2 years and then 1st grade for two years.
In 2007, Jodi moved to Loudoun County and taught 1st grade at Rosa Lee Carter Elementary School for two years.
In her over 8 years of professional teaching experience, Jodi has worked with students with a range of abilities, including many students with Autism and Aspergers, Cerebral Palsy, Spina Bifida, Downs Syndrome, Hearing Impaired, Emotional Disabilities, and Learning Disabilities.
Professionally, Jodi has continued taking classes both through the counties in which she has worked, as well as through accrediated universities in the area, including Aspergers and Autism, Gifted and Talented Curriculum and Student Achievement, Math Specialist Certification, and Strategies that Work: Building Literacy. She has been trained in numerous academic programs, literacy programs, and professional development seminars; Assessment for Learning, SMART Goals, Professional Leadership Committees, Developmental Reading Assessment Grades K-6, PALS, and Word Study.
Personally, Jodi and her husband Todd have a son, Conner, who is 7 years old.
